  • Framework should make a smartwatch
I would love a smartwatch with the philosophy of Framework. A consumer-friendly, high quality watch that works out of the box, and has privacy and repairability in mind. OS wise AsteroidOS looks like it has potential, but all its currently supported watches are kinda old. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Fitbit
Asteroid OS though it seems like development has fallen off. Their page says they are still active. Source: over 1 year ago

I have this smartwatch running asteroidOS. Note that in the specs it lists half a GB or ram and quad-core 1.2 GHz CPU and that it was discontinued 7 years ago. Yes, modern smartwatch way out spec a PS2, and if it was properly ported (not emulated) then yes you could actually play SA on your watch. Source: over 1 year ago

  • How do you personally take advantage of Linux’s open source nature
In my silly little case, I wanted a smart watch that runs Linux. So I bought myself an LG Watch Urbane and installed Asteroid OS on it. After installing I realized there were next to no sync clients for any of my devices: desktop linux and iOS. Source: over 1 year ago

  • Huawei Watch v1, still secure?

Yeah, there is an option to flash custom firmware on an exisiting common smartwatches. The most notable is open source Asteroid OS: https://asteroidos.org/ It supports quite a few devices however some of them have some functionality cutted. Just grab smartwatches which are fully supported and youre good. This is the most convenient option. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Smoothness and performance of Qt based systems compared to native apps and OS
    > You mean to say Telegram is smoother than other apps? If those other apps are using Electron then yes; Telegram is smoother. > In general, would you say that Qt is supposed to work just as buttery smooth and native on Mac or iPhone as a native app? Yes. No difference in RAM, Disk, or CPU usage than any other native app. > And will an OS built on Qt like Ubuntu Touch will be as smooth and beautifully craftable as... - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
