I tested just now in firefox with an app from https://appsco.pe and it just...opened a browser tab with the website. So I understand a PWA is just a website but isn't the whole point to have a dedicated window/card for it? - Source: Hacker News / 2 months ago
Https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/Progressive_web_apps/Guides/Making_PWAs_installable#browser_support I tested just now in Firefox with an app from https://appsco.pe and it does indeed work! I can do the same with the Android version of Brave. > If you install Firefox it uses Gecko but still has native app look feel? That depends on your definition. Making an app _feel_ native is a matter of... - Source: Hacker News / 2 months ago
Not really, since there can be many indexes like this. There's already https://appsco.pe for example. - Source: Hacker News / 7 months ago
I think that it really depends on what the PWA is trying to do and its purpose. I think the Twitter, Instagram, and Starbucks apps are both good examples of what can be done. Potentially a lot more could be done with PWAs, if there was more push to make them better. https://appsco.pe/. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
Go to the Appscope website ( http://appsco.pe/) on the KaiOS phone and you will find a list of Progressive Web Apps. Some work better than others. Pin the app to the Apps Menu. I can't get the Instagram working tonight. Might be that my 8110 4G is too old. I should imagine it might work on a newer device especially a KaiOS 3.1 phone. Source: over 1 year ago
On android you can't do this with discord but you can with lots of other PWA "apps", here is a website full of them: https://appsco.pe/. Source: over 1 year ago

To do virtually the same exact thing with your browser of choice, instead make web-apps by going to the mobile website for Twitter, etc, and selecting "add to home" in settings. There's also AppScope which is basically web-app "store," where you can find all social media optimized as mobile web applications, including Twitter, Instagram, Telegram, etc, plus lots of games, tools, and other random web-apps. Right now, there are a handful really well-done PWA “stores” online. In contrast to the classic app stores, these are catalogues rather than system stores. One example in that category is Appscope. Its minimalistic and to-the-point design emphasizes what most PWAs try to achieve. - Source: dev.to / almost 3 years ago
PWAs are just regular web apps which have an "installation" and "deletion" workflows and are have extra bits for deep integrated into the OS like a native app. The point is, regular user woun't be able to distinguish a good PWA from a native app. Here is an "app store" which has only PWAs in it. Yup, completely agree with this!! (I was also quoted in the article) One thing I do see having the potential to change things is https://appsco.pe, it's a really nicely designed 'PWA store'. If it (and PWAs) became more mainstream, I can see that being another place that people would go to search your thing. However, it looks like it hasn't been actively developed for a while. I wish they would add a reviews... - Source: Hacker News / about 3 years ago
