I have https://apilist.fun bookmarked, which has a couple. [TheMealDB](themealdb.com) looks borderline suitable, but the images provided are pretty low quality. Source: over 1 year ago
Since you're learning Python, try building a simple web scraper or learn how to work with open APIs (https://apilist.fun/). Write sample scripts that can help you save time at work (if applicable). And then the world is yours: databases, django, data engineering (depends on what you want to do). Source: over 1 year ago
Here is a list of free-to-use public APIs for getting basically any type of data: weather, stocks, face recognition, cats, etc. You can definitely take inspiration and come up with some neat use cases that can lead to interesting project ideas. Source: over 1 year ago
Start looking into something like JSON. It will let you save data to files and interact with a bunch of online services. There are a few sites that aggregate APIs you can use like APIList. If you start getting to a point where json doesn't seem the right tool for the job, maybe you need to look at SQL databases, you'll figure it out when you get there. Source: almost 2 years ago

Keep a log of 'cool things' to do with the platform and do them on your spare time. They can be work-related - see points 1 & 2, or they can just be cool. If they aren't work related, get an instance from developer.servicenow.com and build stuff there. Use this to practice building integrations for example: https://apilist.fun/. There are some official services, like EBSCO full text finder noted already in the comments, that already do this for your library. If you're wanting to make something cheaper or just on your own for your library then you could try to find free APIs online. I found a list on this website here: https://apilist.fun/! I hope that helps some and good luck :). Source: almost 3 years ago
Here's a list of some fun API's, which are services on the web that will work with requests: https://apilist.fun/. Source: about 3 years ago
