It's interesting to me that many threads here seem to imply that lower news consumption by Americans is bad and that the fault lies with the news industry. Ignoring whether it's bad or not, if Americans want mostly unbiased news, they have easy access to it on the web: https://www.reuters.com/ https://apnews.com/ Americans choose other sources for news... they're not forced to consume it. The "blame" lies with the... - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago

If people want news that's about as unbiased and objective as possible there has always been: https://apnews.com/ https://www.reuters.com/ Hot take: People don't read them as much because people don't read "news" to be informed in an unbiased manner, they read news to be entertained. - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
Like the other one said, PBS Newshour for video and for text AP News, which is straight news and has no paywall (both aren't focused on the sensationalism/shouting matches/etc of cable news and blogs). Source: 10 months ago

Most if not all newspapers have websites. Why not browse the new stories you read and see which sites are being linked to? Or, since most newspapers use the AP as a source, just go there. https://apnews.com/. Source: 11 months ago
Associated Press (AP) and Reuters stay neutral. I like to read Newser. Usually the Newser articles are 2 or 3 paragraphs in a neutral tone. It consolidates info from multiple news sites. If you want to dig deeper, it has the links to the original articles. I get a lot of information in a short amount of time. Source: 11 months ago
Https://apnews.com/ is exactly what people say they want. I'm not sure it's what people actually want but when I hear people say 'this is what the news should be'... that's exactly what AP is. Source: 11 months ago

If I may recommend two ways to check that, it would be the Associated Press and to grab maybe 3 US News Channels on Youtube (one heavily right-wing, one heavily left-wing, and one that considers itself moderate) and just watch the headlines. If you see the same news on all three, but they don't have the same twist on it, know there's a base of truth. If they spin it the exact same way, it's likely true. And if... Source: 11 months ago
Can we get real news linked please? Not these “give us your information so we can sell it” companies. Something like AP or Reuters. You know news outlets not media companies dress like news outlets. Source: 11 months ago
Asking reddit is probably only going to give you biased answers. The first thing that came to mind for me is the Associated Press [aka AP news]. https://apnews.com/. Source: 12 months ago
