We have tracked the following product recommendations or mentions on various public social media platforms and blogs. They can help you see what people think about Ampache and what they use it for.
  • Music Streaming
Ampache has been around since 2001, making it one of the oldest self-hosted music servers still actively maintained. That longevity shows โ€” it has an enormous feature set covering music, video, podcasts, radio streams, and Subsonic API compatibility. It supports multiple music catalogs, granular user permissions, and flexible access controls. - Source: dev.to / 4 months ago
  • Ask HN: Flac/MP3 listeners: How do you store/play your music?
I'm not sure if this would fit all your needs aside from running on Linux but Ampache [1][2] has been around for a very long time and has the ability to mesh with other instances. It started as a small project run by some students at OSU and evolved over time. [1] - https://ampache.org/ [2] - https://github.com/ampache/ampache. - Source: Hacker News / about 3 years ago
  • self-hosted alternative to spotify?

  • Step Up in Linux knowledge
You can also do something such as build a mp3 server on headless Debian install https://ampache.org/. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Where I can do my backup?
Now it's time to make backups of my nextcloud, bitwarden, ampache files. Source: over 3 years ago
  • What's yout preferred selfhosted music streaming suite?
Ampache. I've been using it for a while and it's great. I'd suggest using it with Ample, as Ample's UI is better. It supports the Subsonic API, so subsonic clients will work with it. It also supports DAAP and uPnP, for other clients. It has it's own API as well, but not many apps use that. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Selfhosted Spotify / YouTube Music alternative.
If you're using a local music library, Ampache is really good. It supports docker too. The UI's customizable if you don't like it, they have documentation for theming. I'm not really sure what you mean exactly by spotify integration, but there are settings for spotify API keys in Ampache's config file so it might be what you want. • Question for those that listen predominantly to music stored on computer
I maintain ampache (https://ampache.org). A music server that does all this. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Media servers for streaming outside your network
I'm only concerned about music streaming and use Ampache (link) via its docker container https://hub.docker.com/r/ampache/ampache. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Long time winamp user, can I have access to all my media library over the Internet in 2022 on a android and on a laptop
Later on, I started using Ampache https://ampache.org/ to provide a server to host my music. This of course requires you to have Apache and PHP installed on your PC which I did already. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Does anybody manage their own music collection anymore?
Plenty of people do. Some even have a self hosted web catalog of their collection and a sub-set of them link their instances together. [1][2] Linking to the software, not peoples collections. Most are in private circles. [1] - https://github.com/ampache/ampache/wiki [2] - https://ampache.org/#preview. - Source: Hacker News / over 3 years ago
  • Ideas on easiest way to share files weekly with older person who struggles with tech?
You could also go headless linux with apache and minidlna. Maybe even throw in some Ampache. Hell, even an (S)FTP server with an open source front end could do the trick. The amount of different, creative ways to solve this are endless. Source: almost 4 years ago
  • Which music streaming service do you guys use?
Moodeaudio for mpd speakers, then ampache to stream it. Then outside home ampache or subsonic clients. Source: almost 4 years ago
  • Streaming music from FTP server
If you like having a music server on the lan instead of local, consider setting up an Ampache server. https://ampache.org/. Source: about 4 years ago
  • I'm looking for a selfhosted music streaming service with WebDav support.
Did you check Ampache? Didn't tried yet (it's on my wishlist), but seems it support webdav. Source: about 4 years ago
  • What are my next steps to get into a cloud engineer role?
It's a lot. I would suggest starting with Linux. Get a server edition, with no desktop environment, since you won't have one in a container. A decent first project I tell juniors to do is get a LAMP/LNMP stack up and running in a virtual machine. It's even fine in VirtualBox. I don't know if you have any old MP3's laying around, but Ampache might be a fun project to try and get working. Get comfortable with the... Source: over 4 years ago

  • Let's make a definitive guide to the subtle differences in Self Hosted Music Streaming.
Others: Ampache, Mopidy, Koel, Music Player Daemon (MPD), Lightweight Music Server (LMS), Serviio. I'm not saying these are bad, I just don't know what sets these apart from the "Generic Music Server". Source: almost 5 years ago

Did you check ampache (https://ampache.org/)? Source: almost 5 years ago
