proxychains not working

Hi, so im a noob using proxychains on kali linux. I already edited the config file with nano (inserted hash in front of strict chain, removed hash from dynamic chain), but when I test it out using the command proxychains firefox www.google.com and search what is my ip, it still spits out my actual ip. I have firefox set to use system proxy settings, I've used a bunch of different proxies from spys.one and currently have like 6 proxies saved for it to choose from just in case the proxies are the issue, and according to service tor@default status, my tor is active. I've also tried using proxychains curl ipchicken.com and proxychains curl dnsleaktest.com instead to test it out, but the connections are either denied or time-out. I've scoured the internet for solutions but haven't found anything so I'm hoping someone could help. Thank you.
