For your overlays, go for functionality over looks. Since the type of show that you plan to do is focused on bringing information to your viewers, go minimal with it. You can literally assemble things using StreamElements overlay creator (which is free), to create just the essential widgets that you'd need (follower? subscriber? donations? etc) and add visuals by compounding Color Sources on OBS to make it look like a "breaking news" overlay on top of your video.
