I'll grant that these days a mobile app based UI is often more friendly - except for those who don't have a mobile phone - but I used Freecycle extensively in my last town as an alternative to the free listings on Craigslist, Offer Up, and Nextdoor free listing. I found the people using it to be less flakey, especially compared to Craigslist.

Freecycle

But no, this new Buy Nothing Project is something I had not heard of before. It's always good to have options but I'm surprised more people are not using the Freecycle website which seems to be almost everywhere and is quite community driven. There are local Freecycle listings for individual towns, but you can access them all through your account at freecycle.org.
