Arturia's V-Collection vs Native Instrument's Kontakt

Vital Zebralette
  1. 1
Vital is a spectral warping wavetable synthesizer with drag'n'drop modulation workflow and animated preview of the synth's inner workings where needed. Comes with many modulation sources (including audio-rate), MPE support and FX chain.

If you need sampled sounds of acoustic instruments Kontakt is the industry standard. Particularly to create soundtracks the likes of Berlin strings, Cinestrings, Cineperc, etc etc all run in Kontakt. V-Collection shines in modelling synth hardware. The advantage is that you can modify the parameters live and they are not (although they may be sometimes) effects applied directly onto sampled sounds. This collection bundles a bunch of synths at once which is convenient but there may be separate plugins from other vendors that are better at modelling specific synths (check https://u-he.com for instance). As others have said, you may only need in fact Analog Lab to use the sounds if you are not planing to modify or create new presets. Analog Lab also contains some sampled acoustic and electric pianos but they aren't that great. Finally don't forget to check Keyscape (imho better sampled acoustic and electric pianos) and Omnisphere (sampled synths and synths). Finally if you need a good acoustic piano check Synthogy's Ivory II. The software itself is old and dreadful but the sound for me is just magnificent.
