Snaps and flatpaks of older open source games

LOVE 2D Firejail
  1. Hi there! LÖVE is an *awesome* framework you can use to make 2D games in Lua.
    Pricing:
    • Open Source
Examples: - one-off projects built with LÖVE are often incompatible with newer versions, so they either need to be built into stand-alone binaries, or you need to build (or grab an appimage of) each historic version of LÖVE. - The current version of DOSBOX doesn't work for an incredibly esoteric '90s game I want to load, but it does report as working on fairly recent versions. None of my other DOSBOX games benefit particularly from being on the latest and greatest, so I see no problem with downgrading and pinning that version. - I plan on developing a package with an explicit depreciation pattern. It's python, so I can raise depreciation warnings that advice users to pin the dependent if they need the old functionality. Deployment will be on PyPI and conda--I couldn't do it with a flatpak.

  2. security sandbox
    Pricing:

Sandboxing by default is great, but you can also sandbox appimages using firejail.
