A few years back someone made a site that would find cheap flights even if it meant trying off before the final destination. Is there still anything like that?

Yes the site is called SkipLagged. It is still up and running. You can usually get cheaper prices on there but you can only do a carry-on bag when you do that. I typically use that site, FlightPenguin, or PlanMoreTrips and almost 99% of the time those 3 sites find me cheaper fares than Google Flights or Kayak.
