OT: FLAC is a really clever file format. Why can't everything be that clever?

Mainly because Shoko Anime and other anime collection clients, use AniDB as the way to identify Videos.

AniDB

AniDB is an Anime Database Online, that uses hashes of the file 'ED2K' to identify Videos. You can calculate the ED2K in your client and ask AniDB with the hash, and AniDB will return the Episode, Show, etc. Which is totally independent of the name of the file, and in fact is almost 100% exact identification.
