It's a college level course, but Harvard's CS50 course is free online and very hands on. It's more of a computer science introduction than a pure coding course, but it teaches some important concepts that coding courses often brush over (ie, data structures, algorithmic thinking, handling memory). You can access it via edx.org. If this is too in depth (no worries if so), python is a great starting point and there should be plenty of python courses linked in this thread to check out.
