Hotels.com is an online accommodation service that provides an interactive hotel booking experience.

I have been reading a lot of the documentation on freeipa its webside and on rhel idm. A few things I don't fully understand. So first of the domain name as I understand it you have to own the domain which is logical. But under windows at school we always made up stuff like hotels.com or something.net etc on active directory without any issues. Even though we did not own any of those domains. which seems to conflict with freeIPA its documentation. Is it a big deal for a personal setup at home? I understand as a company it can have big issues. And second the domain certificates does the freeIPA server require the root certificate for example example.com as well as api.example.com or is api.example.com fine?
