Visual Studio Code

It is preferred to have a computer, as I said, as long as it can run Java version 8.0 I believe. As others pointed out IntelliJ (which I prefer), Eclipse (open source .org https://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/release/kepler/sr1/eclipse-ide-java-developers ) and VS Code all work fine with minor differences. I would suggest IntelliJ (https://www.jetbrains.com/idea/ ) or VS Code (https://code.visualstudio.com/ ) for a beginner as eclipse can get a bit complicated.
