Godot Engine

Haven't tried it myself, but http://automatetheboringstuff.com/ is supposed to be good for python. Depending on hardware you could make games as well. I like https://godotengine.org/, fairly simple and very powerful.

Screeps

If you want to get some cross discipline work going on, there's a programming game called screeps. Normally you play on the official server, but they release the server code so you can run your own instead of requiring you play on the developer's servers. I'm not sure what it would take in the way of keys for people playing, you might need to message the devs to find out, but it would be pretty cool to have your people interested in infrastructure set up the server for the people interested in programming to play on.
