    Revive that old PC!
    I should note, a distro is separate from a DE, any distro can run any DE, it's just that some distros are designed around a particular DE. Pop!OS runs it's own GNOME based DE, but you could install KDE, or XFCE, or LXLE, or Cinnamon), or of you want to swing something more esoteric, i3wm. This is only 5 out of hundreds of different DEs that exist, and you can technically install most of them in one distro. I'd just suggest not doing so because it would quickly bloat your install, since they're basically all the tools that constitute a GUI, including file managers, document editors, and package managers.
