Then I ordered Mike Meyers' CompTIA A+ Certification Exam Guide. He describes key concepts clearly and injects some delightfully cheesy humour into his writing. I found technical jargon and numbers difficult to memorise, so I used the book's glossary to create flashcard sets (quizlet.com). The accompanying practice exercises and exams (totalsem.com) provided insight into typical exam questions. I spent about six months working through Meyers' book and online resources.

First, I completed the Google IT Support Professional Certificate (coursera.org). It took about six months to work through the five courses in my spare time, and I spent another two months re-reading my notes and re-doing the assessments.
