Always wanted to travel across US but were not sure if you have enough time for that?
Travel - Ive done a lot of camping as it made the routes interesting, using state parks and national forests. The facilities and costs are really predictable. Also - the people generally are really helpful to bikers - its not unusual to have someone bring you over beer and/or food. Ive used a couple apps to research/plan routes - https://trips.furkot.com/ , and for finding curvy roads https://kurviger.de/en. Im not an american so my phone plan dosent carry over, so I usually just put it in airplane mode and use osmand for voice only navigation, and use wifi at restaurants/parks/etc - and hook the navigation voice to an old cardo headset on my helmet. Coupled with a small battery backup so I can charge at a gas station/restaurant/wilderness stop, its worked great. Some folks like gps, or maps, I just take in the scenery and turn generally when im supposed to, and it adjusts when I miss a turn anyway. It does mean you can go rogue on your route and follow the sun, and pick back up later to get to points of interest along the way.
