    I agree about self-hosting. What bothers me is that the actual email messages are stored on the servers (I use namecheap.com servers) as just plain text, readable by anybody with access to the server drives (disgruntled employees, hackers, etc)-- that is worrisome in a time where identity theft is the number 1 white collar crime. I wish there was a self hosting email app that did server side encryption akin to protonmail, that could be ideal; I am not talking about email encrypted in transit between the server and the client/PC, I mean the actual messages stored on the server hard drives; in fact I do not think gmail servers encrypt email messages and why would they when google needs to play with the messages to decide how and what to serve you up for advertising.
