Snap (formerly BYOB) is a visual, drag-and-drop programming language.
Yep, I gave my son my old late-2000s era Netbook (Intel Atom @ 1.8GHz, 1GB RAM, 256GB HDD) running Void Linux when he was 5 years old. I had to use a distro that supported 32-bit systems. I put some simple games on it. It runs LibreOffice well enough. I intend to get him a proper (still inexpensive) laptop when he gets old enough to start learning how to code, but you could run visual programming languages like Scratch or Snap on this old Netbook.
