Right so they have DSL then. DSL can be VERY slow, 1.5Mbps to 30Mbps is common, but a lot of times 1 - 5Mbps because its (a) cheap or (b) the fastest they can get or both. This is generalizing, but a lot of older people just want the cheapest internet they can get to browse Facebook and yahoo.com.

Speedtest.net

If you already tried hard wiring the 5e cable direct to the modem and you still get buffering, its just slow internet. You can use speedtest.net or a similar service to see what speed you are getting.
