I think apartments.com and rent.com are pretty good options. Downtown is probably your best option for a place that is walk-able and has a city vibe. I don't know what your budget is, but places near Forsyth Park would give you pretty scenery and you'd be close to a grocery store. Alternatively, they've been building some apartments near the Savannah River that might be of interest.
