Nodejs with Socket.io , express or both?

Socket.io

To start up I'll introduce myself a bit, I'm developing websites from over 5 years, first it was php + nodejs, then just nodejs based on socket.io (loved it and still its biggest pleasure to make javascript backend), later cause to work in company I backed on php, and now from over year I'm working mostly on Ruby on Rails with Webpacker and VueJS. RoR is amazing piece of framework but I feel I wanna do also full Javascript front&back end websites , I really enjoy working with javascript in any way.
