best adblocking (privacy/security) apps for android that don't require root

NextDNS Blokada AdGuard
  1. Block ads, trackers and malicious websites on all your devices.

Nextdns - less features than adguard but quite capable. Has a paid (monthly) version (no lifetime option) and a free option (free option is quite capable and can be enough for many people). Nextdns is not opensource.

  2. The best ad blocker for Android. Free and open source.
    Pricing:
    • Open Source
Blokada - Free, also has a paid version. Out of the three, this one has the least features but is still very good. If you have an older device, use the version 4. If you run into problems with a newer device, use the version 4 (not 5). Blokada is opensource.

  3. Surf the Web Ad-Free and Safely. Shield up!
Adguard - Has a free trial but after that the product costs a monthly fee or 140 € for lifetime license or 30$ for lifetime license at stacksocial (note, you can use my referral link "For each friend you invite that makes a purchase, both you and your friend will earn $10." - if this link is not allowed I will remove it. Costs money, has most configuration options and most features. I've installed this on all our family devices (if you end up wanting to try out this app, get it from the official website, the playstore version is different and much less capable). A major feature that Adguard has is the ability to completely block (your selected) apps connection to the internet. So the app cannot datamine you if it's something that interests you. Another feature is "extension support" (ability to use third party userscripts which add additional features (as far as I know, none of the other two mentioned apps have these features, you could probably block all domains that those apps access, but that takes tons of time).** Adguard is not opensource.
