Yes, drone.io or woodpecker (to stay on the FOSS side) are simpler than most alternatives, I had some hopes in https://agola.io/ but could not finish the tutorials due to random errors, and most other solutions are either a hassle to setup and integrate (buildbot), a vulnerable honeypot (jenkins), or require an existing k8s cluster or even more managed infra. At some point it is easier to install a gitlab omnibus than having to worry about the rest.
