The first is marked for retirement, but it still works and I find it more helpful for debugging. You go to search.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool and paste in you test site's URL. It will give warnings or errors if it is not happy with something. Be sure to fix the errors, using the Schema.org site for help. It is worth repairing warnings where you can to improve your ranking.
