  • Ask HN: Best UI design courses for hackers?
With RefactoringUI and Erik's course, I think the 3rd I would use to complete my top 3 is Shift Nudge (https://shiftnudge.com/). There's a fair amount of overlap between all of them, so if you want to Pareto minmax it, I would recommend starting with Refactoring UI, which should help provide practical solutions to many situations and get rid of the most egregious horrors you might commit. Of course, UI design goes... - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
  • What have you been doing since laid off?
Find some fundamental videos on Youtube or take an online course. Bring Your Own Laptop is good but honestly just plug "Learn UI" into Youtube and find someone that presents to your liking. They're all sharing the same stuff and there's thousands of them now. Figma offers a ton of videos that teaches you app and gives a sense of the basics. You'll quickly see lots of the same principles apply from print design. If... Source: about 3 years ago
  • Any Figma course/workshop recommendations for an already advanced user?
The only one I was tempted by was https://shiftnudge.com/ but even that doesn't seem advanced. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Graphic Designer, Any help will be welcome
Never heard of Domestika until now, but I imagine skillshare is better? If you have the money https://shiftnudge.com/ is a course that has caught my eye. MDS is a solid designer and is very good at explaining how and why different design techniques and concepts work. Source: over 3 years ago
  • How to get better at visual design to create appealing high-fidelity screens?
Also very worth checking out if you want to make a bit of an investment is Shift Nudge, awesome course. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Thoughts on 'dribble' course for UX design (FIGMA)
That's a UI design course, not a UX design course. If you are actually looking for UI design, check out Shift Nudge. I've heard really good things about it. Source: over 3 years ago
  • How to Polish CSS?
/ the above doesnโ€™t help you in figuring out what you want to make something look like, only the ability to implement a design in css. If you want to be able to design different things or understand designs better (e.g. how/why do we choose to round corners), then https://shiftnudge.com/ is a terrific design course. - Source: Hacker News / over 3 years ago
  • Switching from graphic design to UI / UX design
For UI design: https://shiftnudge.com/ & https://www.figma.academy/ (these are high quality!) For UX design: https://www.interaction-design.org/courses?learningPath=ux_designer (and many more). Source: almost 4 years ago
  • Google UX Certificate -> first job?
It takes years to really get good at design especially if you're self-taught and I've seen a lot of people disappointed they can't land a job after taking a course/bootcamp or getting a certificate. Continue learning as much as possible, do courses on Youtube or elsewhere. I took the course on https://shiftnudge.com/ by MDS earlier in my career and it really leveled up my interface design skills in all aspects,... Source: almost 4 years ago
  • I just convinced my wife to learn Figma. She's been a designer for many years, so she's a God level user of Adobe design tools. Other than Figma's tutorials, which are excellent IMHO, what other training would you recommend?
Yeah. It's a one man team right now so he's probably having to throttle things a little bit. Alternatively, there's ShiftNudge but that's more for visual UI design, though it does have a lot of Figma tutorials and aspects. Source: about 4 years ago
  • Best Figma tutorials available?
Gotcha. I misunderstoodโ€”I thought you wanted to follow along with someone as they create a screen in Figma and put that exact design in your portfolio. I know there are bootcamps that both teach the skills and have you do projects while they guide you and give you feedback. If you're not really looking for a classroom environment though, check out Shift Nudge. I've heard really good things, though I haven't tried... Source: about 4 years ago
  • An online course hosted on Notion?
I just found out This amazing course that teaches everything about design and it's fully hosted on Notion.(first time seeing this). Source: over 4 years ago
  • Is there a course for modern react front-end(design wise)?
I think maybe refactoring UI would help you. There's also https://shiftnudge.com/ but I've no experience with it personally. Source: over 4 years ago
  • learnui.design vs shiftnudge.com
Hi. I have an engineering degree and recently completed a UX bootcamp in March. The bootcamp gave me general UX knowledge and general UI knowledge. I want to focus on UI design and need more in depth training. As I do not come from a Visual design or a graphic design background. I realize there are alot of youtube videos out there and I can copy designs from dribbble, but I am looking for a comprehensive,... Source: about 5 years ago
  • Best Product Design Bootcamps
You could check https://shiftnudge.com/ It's not a bootcamp, maybe it costs more than the average courses, but the quality and possibilities of networking are top notch. Source: about 5 years ago
  • Career Questions โ€” July 2021
Shift Nudge - Start off here because it's expensive, but for me it was so worth it. It is based mostly around visual design, but for people getting into UX focusing on getting your visual design skills to baseline good will help you sell your design ideas. Source: about 5 years ago
  • Ask HN: What are some good resources for a programmer to learn UI/UX design?
Https://shiftnudge.com/ is very good, but unfortunately doesnโ€™t open for enrollment for a few more months. - Source: Hacker News / about 5 years ago
  • Resources to Get Better at Design
Unfortunately, enrollment is closed until mid to late 2021. You can sign up to get notified by email when it's open. - Source: dev.to / over 5 years ago
  • Articles, blogs >> Books?
I really enjoyed the course LearnUI by Erik Kennedy. Id actually argue that this was one of the best educational resources that I've ever used, including college. After each lesson, he dishes out a design assignment that forces to use what you've learned. I've also heard good things about Shiftnudge, but haven't taken it myself. UI helped make my portfolio look more professional. Source: over 5 years ago
