I use Ahrefs for gathering information about competitors' backlinks and general info on competitors, their DR, UR, traffic. I use it for several months. The information I gather with ahrefs helps me to understand general competitors' linkbuilding strategies. I'd like to have more for this money, site audit for example.
Using this, https://ahrefs.com/backlink-checker/ I use it a lot. It's great to find dev resources, hidden gems, sites that talk about a specific topic, etc. It does have a limit (100 links), but for purposes such as this one - it is an absolute must-have bookmark for me. - Source: Hacker News / 22 days ago

Backlinks aren't necessary for low or zero volume keywords. You will want links at some point but you don't need them immediately.
