  - Merging the TIFs into one searchable pdf I use the CZUR software again (though you could use photoshop and a free OCR software like OCRmyPDF to do this too). If you go for CZUR however, they only accept JPEGs. I use Affinity Photo to convert it, they have a nice batch processor for this type of thing (although I would suggest disabling parallel processing cause it gave some weird artifacts in my output).   You won’t get Adobe programs in there but there is Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer which are on par with Adobe’s Ps and Ai respectively, if you don’t consider some niche functions like the artificial intelligence tools. They’re full fledged for 99% of the user base and they’re absolutely viable for high end professional use, and I say this out of experience. Source: about 2 years ago

  If she wants to expand and more than just mimic traditional paints there are even more programs she might want to consider, the king of the "generalist" softwares is Photoshop, my personal choice, but there are valid alternatives out there, starting from the free and open source Krita, to cheap but solid programs like Clip Studio Paint (especially good for comics/manga, but it can also do other stuff), Paintstorm...   Go for affinity by serif labs. You will find some similarities but also a few features that are implemented separately. Affinity Photo is available for Mac and iPad and M1 native, but not for iPhone and has to be purchased separately for every platform (55€ for Mac, 10€ for iPad atm.)
