Younglings? You also should consider installing AdGuard Home on a mini PC, Raspberry Pi, etc. And using it for your home DNS server. AdGuard Home has a Family protection mode that blocks inappropriate sites and enforces safe browsing while also blocking ads and trackers. Source: 5 months ago
Maybe try adguard home which is similar to pihole but has a feature where you can block specific websites and social media so seems more like what you are looking for: https://adguard.com/en/adguard-home/overview.html. Source: about 1 year ago
You don't need a Raspberry Pi to run Pi-hole. You can run it in Docker. AdGuard Home is an alternative to Pi-hole. Source: about 1 year ago
However, personally I recommend a selfhosted variant like PiHole or Adguard Home, which offer both network wide adblocking. The latter offers an easier setup and features out of the box. Source: about 1 year ago
You might also consider running AdGuard Home locally and pointing your devices to that instead. Then you can run any DNS server and still have adblocking. There is also Control D as an alternative to the AdGuard DNS servers if you don't want to run a local resolver. Source: about 1 year ago
Hi. I am using adguard home on a raspberry pi as network level and blocker https://adguard.com/en/adguard-home/overview.html. Source: over 1 year ago
Assuming you have some form of Raspberry Pi or SFF PC at your disposal, the simplest solution that also grants you some great ad blocking on your network as a bonus would be something like Pi Hole or Adguard Home. Source: over 1 year ago
If you want Adguard options, you can just set up a small server for Adguard Home, which will do filters, and block ads (though I don't think they'll block Youtube or Twitch ads all that reliably compared to a browser adblocker) but it's still good enough for most stuff. It's free to set up, and there is a version for Windows, though I recommend setting this up on Linux.... Source: over 1 year ago
So I saw AdGuard Home recommended and it sounds great but as with most things that get technical, the people behind it assume everyone has a level of knowledge similar to theirs. I don't. Source: over 1 year ago
I use the plugins zenarmor and adguardhome then I enabled DNS over TLS via Unbound. Source: over 1 year ago
Simplest thing would be to setup a DNS server like AdGuard Home or Pi-Hole. Then from the DHCP settings on your router you can have your clients use this DNS server. Source: over 1 year ago
I found pfBlockerNG to be a nightmare, I went with AdGuardHome, it'll do what you want and is much easier. Source: over 1 year ago
Network-wide (block ads on your xbox/phone/smart tv/etc, requires more than just 2 clicks) (alternative). Source: over 1 year ago
You also may want to think about adding a "whole home" ad blocker, like Pi-hole or AdGuard Home. These improve web performance by eliminating a lot of unneeded web/DNS traffic for ads and tracking. Source: over 1 year ago
If you don't run an OS that supports it, or you want all device on your home network to use it then you can set up something like AdGuard Home or Pi-hole on a Raspberry Pi or similar dedicated device to act as a local DNS server. Then configure that to resolve using DoH or DoT. As a bonus this can also perform ad-blocking & tracker blocking at the same time. Source: almost 2 years ago
If you've a Raspberry Pi knocking about, you can run it (or Pi Hole) for free at home. Source: almost 2 years ago
I use Adguard Home network wide. On top of that I have uBlock Origin. Source: almost 2 years ago
I don't think it does that much of a difference tbh. One thing you can do to speed things up in your local network is set up a local DNS server like AdGuard Home, Pi-hole or Unbound, which keep a local DNS cache so that repeating requests don't even need to leave your home network. I haven't used it for parental controls but I do believe it's an option with AdGuard Home. Source: about 2 years ago
