Life is so busy these days but I like to keep tabs on the biggest headlines. I've been subscribed to 1440 for maybe a year and love it. I basically can just skim the world events while brushing my teeth in the morning, and there are links if I feel like reading more. It's a nice format that leaves no guilt if I miss it for the day. I'm also quite happy with its lack of bias: there are a couple of extremely subtle... - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
24 hour news outlets have put us in a much worse place in terms of journalistic standards. Something in smaller bites is better, like https://join1440.com/. Source: over 1 year ago
1440 - they claim to be "unbiased news". I doubt that's possible, but they do a good job of bubbling up the most important new sources of the day. Source: over 1 year ago

In terms of coping, I spend time with the people I care about the most, and I take pauses from reading the news and looking at social media. I use 1440 for my news, its unbiased and sends me an email everyday with the most important headlines happening around the world so I’m up to date on what’s going on without the drama added in. It’s free. Source: over 1 year ago

If anyone is looking for non-sensationalist news edited by humans, I'd like to offer a shoutout to the newsletter put out by https://join1440.com/. I've been reading it now for a couple of months and, after comparing their choice of stories to cover and the ones covered in the national news (US and Germany), I'm feeling ready to leave the mainstream and let 1440 curate for me. So far they have not missed... - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
I work from home and have one of the major cable news stations on most of the day. But, I consume unbiased news every day from 14040 Unbiased News Give it a try....it's free, and if I recall correctly, I encouraged the forum readers to use this site last year. Source: over 1 year ago
They aren’t apps but they are mailing lists. Both, IMO, do a good job giving a summary of the headlines with links to the source articles. A single email a day. 2 minutes and I feel I am up to date on (US-centric) news. The 1440 - https://join1440.com Morning Brew - https://www.morningbrew.com/daily. Source: over 1 year ago

Feel you. I think it is useful to have some broader context but in the past 10 years the products as they are have evolved to a place where for me they are no longer helpful. I donate to local and public media because the work is nevertheless important to support but I consume almost none of the product. Sucks. That said, as a US-centered person, I recently found this factual email distillation, and do find it... - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago

There is a daily email newsletter, 1440: https://join1440.com/ The idea is you get a daily email with a 5-minute or so digest of the news, which you can read once/day, and then get on with your life. It gives you enough of the high-level overview to be informed enough to do your good citizen duty, without having any financial incentive to become a doomscroller. So far, at least, it seems to do a good job. - Source: Hacker News / about 2 years ago
1440 Daily Digest This is where I start my day and get a pretty thorough rundown of what’s going on. Their sources are as neutral as possible, given the polarized media climate. Both my brother and I, with very different political views, both agree this is the best news resource. Source: about 2 years ago
