Social recommendations and mentions

We have tracked the following product recommendations or mentions on various public social media platforms and blogs. They can help you see what people think about VCMI and what they use it for.
  • i still dont get why they canned Forge
Fortunately modders made more or less faithful versions of forge, mainly targetting VCMI (https://vcmi.eu/). Source: about 1 year ago
  • I installed all available towns via VCMI Launcher and it seems that VCMI v1.2 has no problem with them. On gigantic maps, however, you will have to wait longer for your turn. Towns: Death Valley, Preserve, Pavilion, Asylum, Cetatea, Abyss, Heavenly Forge, Retreat, Greenhouse... link in comments.
I recommend joining VCMI discord or forum on https://vcmi.eu for help. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Heroes of Might and Magic III was released on this day 24 years ago
There's also an open source engine for HoMM3: https://vcmi.eu/. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
  • How to make AI turns the fastest (WoG but not exclusively)? Before answering "ban DD", more info inside
This is a very niche requirement, considering that AI turns length is hardly ever a problem on machines from 21 century, but technically forking VCMI and creating limit shouldn't be hard if you are a c++ coder Https://vcmi.eu/. Source: about 1 year ago
  • OpenEnroth – Open reimplementation of the Might and Magic 6, 7, 8 game engine
In case folks are interested in Heroes of Might and Magic, specifically the fan-favorite part 3, there's also an open source reimplementation of that engine available: https://vcmi.eu/ It has high-res and mod support btw :). - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
  • [GOG] Winter Classics up to -90%! Heroes of Might and Magic® 3: Complete (75%), Anno 1404: Gold Edition (75%), Prince of Persia®: The Sands of Time (83%), Port Royale 2 (85%), Might and Magic® 9 (80%), Medal of Honor: Allied Assault War Chest (75%) (10-90% off)
The HD mod has not been the recommended way to play the game in maybe seven or eight years. You want VCMI which is an open source reimplementation project similar to projects like OpenTTD, OpenXCom, OpenRA, OpenRCT2, CorsixTH, and OpenMW. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Finally I can play HoMM3 on the go
Hope that's https://vcmi.eu/ version? Not the hd remaster one? Source: over 1 year ago
  • Heroes of Might and Magic III for the Switch
I found this project https://vcmi.eu/ but it doesn't seem to currently have the same treatment of fheroes2 which got ported to the Switch. Source: over 1 year ago
  • What open source games do you play?
There are also a lot of Open Source re-implementations of closed source games: Fheroes2 ( https://vcmi.eu/ ) Vcmi (https://vcmi.eu/ ). Source: almost 2 years ago
  • What older game are you still playing obsessively?
I really wish the VCMI project ( https://vcmi.eu/ ) had taken off. It has most of a new engine already implemented. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • My green variant of [Heroes of Might and Magic III] arrived! can't wait to play it this was one of my most played sagas as a kid!
And for those who still play the game, check out fHeroes2 and VCMI (Heroes 3). Source: about 2 years ago
  • Can I trust this app?
Can I trust this app? Their homepage: https://vcmi.eu/ Play store version; https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=is.xyz.vcmi&hl=en_CA&gl=US An older version is “verified” on the play store. It has glitches and new versions that aren’t approved by google play can be downloaded manually from their website. I can’t clarify about privacy in coding. Malwarebytes browser guard warned of a trojan on one of their... Source: over 2 years ago
  • Heroes of Might and Magic
There's an open source engine for Heroes 3, with high res and mod support: https://vcmi.eu/. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
  • Heroes of Might and Magic
Shameless plug: if you're still into H3 there is almost complete open source implementation with mods support written from scratch in C++. Unfortunately I'm no longer actively participate, but project is still going strong. https://github.com/vcmi/vcmi https://vcmi.eu/. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
  • Heroes of Might and Magic
Heroes of Might and Magic is such a great long form gaming experience, whether you played solo or with some friends. GOG does provide access to new copies if you'd like it, but I have to highly recommend if you want to play on modern hardware to grab the open source VCMI Project engine for Heroes 3. Heroes 3 is often touted as the best of the series, and the cross platform engine allows you to play on modern... - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
  • Very low end linux games ?
Now that I think of it, Heroes of Might and Magic III has a great source port called VCMI. I prefer to play under WINE, but his hardware probably can't do that. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Anyone aware of a way to play Heroes 3 through web browser?
Check out https://vcmi.eu/ - I think you need an intel processor (not ARM) and you'll need android support - it is an android app, not a browser. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Jagged Alliance 2 Stracciatella version 0.18.0 is released.
Jagged Alliance 2 Stracciatella is an open source clone of JA2. I'ts similar to OpenXcom, OpenRA, OpenTTD or VCMI in that it comes with better support for modern operation systems (Win, Mac, Linux), quality of life improvements, high resolution and modding support. It does not support 1.13 as far as I know. Source: about 3 years ago
  • Homm3 on a mac?
You can also use VCMI. It works pretty well. Source: about 3 years ago
