Back in 2010 I upgrade from a MDD tower Powermac to a Mac Mini (CD tray) and I was so amazed that never bought another Mac tower again. I use CCC to clone my drive to the mini and so on. Now I have that Mac Mini 2012 just for audio production. I don’t even use it for internet or anything else. I have a crossover cable to my main Mac so I can manage files between them. There is a little confusion as most macOS users are not familiar with the difference between a window manager and a window tiling manager. TotalFinder is another good enhancement. It works on 12.0 Intel Macs, but no current M1 support. They originally weren't going to even try to support it, but they decided against that finally and have been working on updates for both TotalFinder and TotalSpaces. Source: over 1 year ago

I have been struggling lately with trying to wean myself off using TotalFinder. I've used that app for over a decade and it truly is the best for my needs. The problem I have is that it requires you to turn off SIP on your machine, which is less than ideal, and for M1 machines can't run it period. I do currently have Intel hardware, but at some point I'll want to get Apple Silicon hardware and the end will be neigh. Source: over 1 year ago
