It’s made by Google, I wouldn’t hold my breath. Source: about 1 year ago
Google 2023 is the company who killed RSS, removed "don't be evil", slapped adverts all over YouTube while asking you to pay for it, produces garbage SEO-spam-filled ad-ridden search results which ignore what you searched for, turned Android into creepy stalker advert OS, shuts people's paid-for accounts without warning and no human support available, has an also-ran cloud service behind even Microsoft's, and is... Not random changes of approaches every couple of year with no clear roadmap and no one know if this or that technology will going to be supported on long time or will go in the Google Killed Technologies Cemetery, for another, with some sudden announced deprecation ultimatum as Google is used to do, creating a lot of problems to many companies and developers. I develop with different technologies from embedded... Source: about 1 year ago
I feel it. These listening devices, as well as everything on https://gcemetery.co/ have made me decide I'm ready to break away from Google in every way I possibly can. I'm no longer using Chrome because they're planning on disabling ad blockers. Instead I now use Firefox, which even allows ad blockers on your phone. I'm working on pulling all of my saved files off of Google Drive. I use DuckDuckGo as my default... Source: about 1 year ago

Apple is apple, google is alphabet and so much more than just android developers. They don't need any more stuff indeed, they kill any project that goes sideways or unnoticed. Source: over 1 year ago
As far as RCS goes, we need to keep in mind that all the telcos botched the attempted roll out of the standard by not playing nice with one another. RCS is now a DeFacto google standard. Google has a track record of disappearing projects they can't technically execute or manage (https://gcemetery.co/), hopefully the same doesn't happen with RCS. I have a feeling like USB-C, apple will eventually implement RCS,... Source: over 1 year ago
How many projects that even do that? Not many and internal politics seems to also rely heavily on "innovation", as in: starting a new project instead of refining something that exists. Thus they ended up with close to half a dozen chat/messaging systems of which most get shut down after a few years and shovelled into the graveyard to the rest of them: https://killedbygoogle.com/ or https://gcemetery.co/. Same feeling. When I first read about Carbon, the memory about Google's cemetery . I don't know why, but I have the feeling that they will end up abandoning it. Source: almost 2 years ago
Jokes aside, Google is rather infamous for having a high rate of closed projects, even though some of them were quite active/popular at that time. You can take a look here or here. Source: almost 2 years ago
