Signal works the same but without the user tracking from Meta/Facebook. Many people use it as well but I'm surprised that a majority sticks to WhatsApp. Source: 5 months ago
A question I often get is "Well are my text messages safe" The short answer is... Maybe? Depends on what type of phone you use, your carrier, and a bunch of other factors. One way to avoid this is to use an end-to-end encrypted text service like Signal if that is a concern of yours. VERY IMPORTANT NOTES: Telegram and WhatsApp are not secure. The way to think of this security is that if is retained by a server... Source: 5 months ago
The linked page is on signalusers.org, but Signal's regular home site is https://signal.org/. I'm looking all over signal.org for some link from there to signalusers.org, as that would make me more relaxed about the authenticity of the latter -- i.e., that it really is run by the same people who run signal.org. Yes, maybe I'm being paranoid. But we're talking about an app whose whole purpose is secure... - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago
WhatsApp and Signal: Of course I’m going to conclude with the point to point encrypted communication apps Signal and WhatsApp. Most of our clients around the world communicate in these apps more than they make phone calls or send emails. Set up an account in each app and start leveraging the text, photo, phone and video features to have easy and fast conversations with your global contacts. See https://signal.org... I'm having trouble sending messages in Signal when I'm connected to a VPN. I've attempted to change VPN servers/countries, but the issue persists. The problem is encountered on computer as well as on phone. Source: 12 months ago
Keep your organizing efforts confidential to avoid interference or retaliation from Amazon. The company may monitor communications or attempt to disrupt unionization activities. Use secure communication channels, such as encrypted messaging apps like Signal (https://signal.org/) or private email accounts, to protect your privacy. Step 4: Identify Union Support. I'm trying to install Signal on my laptop and getting used to Linux at the same time. I can use GTKHash to generate the checksums, but I cannot find the keys I am suppose to compare these to. I tried looking on signal.org, but cannot find them. I may not be looking hard enough, or maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. I took a look at their GitHub site as well, but did not see anything obvious. Can someone... Source: about 1 year ago

Ask your friend/s to visit https://:PORTNUMBER . They will get a certificate warning. Ask them to ignore it and "connect anyway", Tell them not to worry about the warning because, if you have the latest openssl, nodejs and http-server installed, your connection will be encrypted using TLS v1.3 AES256GCM which is as safe as modern encryption in 2023 will allow. They will be prompted for a username and password... Source: about 1 year ago

- For communications... Hands down, use Signal messenger for all important communications between friends and family. It's FOSS, has the same functions as Whatsapp, is E2EE and privacy focused, and you can send pretty much any file type to any other person using Signal. This also replaces SMS/MMS on Android. Signal is discontinuing support of SMS/MMS due to telecom companies finally upgrading to RCS standard... Source: over 1 year ago

I run a (legit) call center and I've had it with 10DLC. I'm going to start moving most of my higher volume SMS clients over to Signal just as soon as I have the integration finished. I'm DONE with getting called at 2 in the morning because a water company technician isn't getting SMS notifications because X carrier decided they didn't like the messages I'm sending for some arbitrary reason, despite registering my...
