If you can type the pangram the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog without looking at your keyboard, then you know where all 26 letters of the alphabet are on the Dvorak layout. That means that you no longer have any need for the beginner websites such as typing.com or typingclub.com or ratatype.com and can instead move onto the second of the two phases of learning to type. The second phase is one that... Source: 10 months ago
There are sites like typing.com, typingclub.com, ratatype.com, typingstudy.com and keybr.com which are all designed to help people learn to touch type. Their purpose is to take someone who has to look down at the keyboard and "hunt and peck" at the keys in order to type, and get them to the point where they don't need to look at the keyboard at all when they type. That's great. That means that you will be able to pick up proper touch typing really quickly. It's going to feel really slow at first. It's going to feel really awful. But it will get better quickly. ratatype.com is pretty good, but to be honest, all these sites and pieces of software are very similar as there is only so much that can be said about learning to type. Whilst your friend may not have been aware of the "home row" technique taught on typing.com and typingclub.com and ratatype.com your friend might have already been able to type pretty quickly using their own less conventional method. Source: 12 months ago
If you read any typing guide or watch any video on the subject, the first thing thta they all say, and the first thing that they all agree on, even if there's a whole bunch of things they don't agree on, is that you should follow something like typing.com, typingclub.com, ratatype.com or keybr.com to learn to touch type with all your fingers and so that you never have to look down at the keyboard. I like ratatype.com If I had know about it's existence when I started to learn to type I would have used that site. I prefer it to most other options out there. Source: 12 months ago
Go to ratatype.com, make and account and start practicing. Try and give it 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the evening for a total of 1 hour of practice each day. If you can't do that try 30 minutes before dinner and 30 minutes after dinner. Basically as long as you have a break at some point where you get away from the screen you'll be fine. Ratatype.com, keybr.com and typing.academy are great if your students are just starting out. Source: about 1 year ago
You could do something like ratatype.com until you know which fingers are supposed to press which keys, and then you could move to keybr.com and stick with that until you have unlocked all 26 letters of the alphabet and then you could resume using monkeytype.com or wherever you currently practice. I learned through websites, like this one or this one. You can also practice your skills here or here. Source: about 1 year ago
The first step is to sign up for a site like ratatype.com and work through as many of the lessons as you need to get you to the point where you understand which fingers are responsible for pressing which keys. Source: about 1 year ago
At the start of the document I outline what I think is a good approach to learning to type using keybr.com but if that doesn't float your boat, you could always just use typing.com or ratatype.com. Source: over 1 year ago
You might want to try and use keybr.com to learn the layout or ratatype.com (both are free). It initially takes a little time investment to learn to touch type in Russian (or any language) but if you are serious about learning the language, you will see that it is an investment that repay itself very fast :). Getting a new keyboard might help with this, but to be honest it's just discipline. Which is something you can learn right now for free. Get back to basics on keybr.com (this video covers the basics in very little time) or perhaps sign up to another site like ratatype.com and just make sure you're pressing the correct key with the correct finger whilst never looking at the keyboard. That will help you build muscle... Source: over 1 year ago
Alternatively, one of the more mainstream typing sites might help more if you feel you need to take things marginally more slowly. The one that I liked the most when I tried a bunch of them was ratatype.com although it doesn't really matter which one you choose because they are all incredibly similar and ultimately teach you the same thing. Ratatype.com is a good site, although I personally prefer a keybr.com. Source: over 1 year ago
If you point them in the direction of typing.com, typingclub.com ratatype.com or keybr.com which are probably the main sites for beginners, they will learn the home row method. It's based on always using the same finger to press a given key. That way whenever they're supposed to type the letter "A" they remember it's the pinky finger of the left hand etc. Over time this familiarity turns into really solid muscle... I know ratatype.com doesn't use the backspace in this course. In tests, you can use the backspace or not, if you want. Source: over 1 year ago
Keybr.com and ratatype.com are both good sites to go through. Source: almost 2 years ago
I have now been at it for 18 months, and after going through typingclub.com, ratatype.com and keybr, my main practice tool is now monkeytype.com (I usually practice with punctuation and numbers). Source: almost 2 years ago
Ratatype has lessons where you can't continue if you make more than 2 errors, also typing test count accuracy. Source: about 2 years ago
