Linux: EasyEffects (free and open-source). Source: 5 months ago
For DSP, we already can do that using something like Easy Effects[1][2]. The biggest issue is acquiring proper impulse-response data. In theory, it has to be tuned per-model, so turning basically require pro-grade equipment and a recording studio. However, apparently many people assume Dolby is using the same profile for all laptops, so just copy-paste the same file here and there. Not really sure which is the... - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago

EasyEffects could be a replacement for EqualizerAPO. You can do some gain staging there if you want, as well as a bunch of other stuff. Source: 10 months ago
However if you want a one size fits all audio processor like the proprietary systems there are those as well - check out EasyEffects for Pipewire - https://github.com/wwmm/easyeffects It's almost guaranteed to be in your distros repository as well. Source: 12 months ago
It's because the windows' driver is far superior to the generic linux driver. You can't really do much but give Easy Effects a try. Source: about 1 year ago
There is a way to match the audio quality of windows in linux but it takes a bit of work. You start by recording an impulse response file inside windows following instructions here. You can then install easyeffects/pulseeffects and enable the convolver plugin using the impulse response file you got from windows. I've done this on a SP4 and a SB2 and it greatly increases sound quality. Source: about 1 year ago
Streaming has been a lot of fun over on Linux. OBS works as you'd expect. VAAPI, the default encoder for AMD GPUs on Linux, works fine for me, though I'd love to experiment with AMD Media Framework one day. Easyeffects helps me get my sound quality to where I want it to be, while Helvum allows me to set up my inputs and outputs exactly the way I want them. Helvum's GUI isn't perfect but it's easy to use. I'm a bit... Source: about 1 year ago

PulseEffects/Easy Effects on Linux can display information such as bitrate and number of channels of audio streams that are playing:. Source: about 1 year ago
Take a look at https://github.com/wwmm/easyeffects for example and play around until it sounds "better" to you. (You don't need to make it sound "like windows" btw, audio is a very subjective matter.). Source: about 1 year ago
Yeah, Sonos is very much the Apple of this space. A solid, user-friendly implementation of several pre-existing concepts into a cohesive product - no small task. I don't think the technologically important parts of this are patentable though, there's both prior art and the obviousness standard to worry about. But very much like Apple's 'rounded corners' case, they've gone after (IMO) obvious UI functionality for... - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago

Install EasyEffects with the Linux Studio Plugins (for the compressor plugin). Source: about 1 year ago
If you're using pipewire, easyeffects is probably the simplest road to take. A plugin host/patch bay like Carla is a bit more complicated but offers more flexibility. Source: over 1 year ago
For the delay and everything, you'll probably want to use something like easyeffects if you're on pipewire, https://github.com/wwmm/easyeffects. You'll also need to make sure you have the linux studio plugins installed, https://lsp-plug.in/ . Source: over 1 year ago
Also, I want to be able to copy presets from AutoEq as fore mentioned. Does anyone know if alsamixer is similar to easyeffects for pipewire? Do settings/sliders/options line up whatsoever? If I could translate the settings made for easyeffects into alsamixer settings that would be ideal. I'm just not sure if that's how it works. If anyone knows much about this then I would love to hear. Source: over 1 year ago
