You should try using Legendary. It's an open-source command-line client for Epic. It does pretty much what Epic does but it's quicker to install/launch games and you won't have to worry about telemetry or "spyware." Although, you will have to buy games through the Epic online store. Source: 5 months ago
I'm using an open-source alternative to the epic games launcher (legendary) that uses wine, and when I try to run a game through the terminal, a log of wine shows up. Source: 5 months ago
It's an epic games launcher alternative, and a UI frontend for Legendary. (Don't worry, guys. It can launch non-epic games as well 😅) It's simply meant to be like heroic, but this time putting macOS first. Source: 6 months ago
If you are familiar with using the command-line then you can use Legendary and import the game to your EGS, but you will need to do this one by one for each game. Source: 10 months ago
Oh, you're talking about the launcher? Just use Legendary. CLI-based, so performance isn't an issue. If you know how to use a command line, you'll know how to use legendary with no problem. You can even launch some games without ever connecting to Epic after downloading them. Highly recommend, it's what I use. Source: 10 months ago
Grab your favorite EGS client and install the game. For this purpose I am using legendary. Legendary is important later, so it is a good idea to have it installed regardless. At this stage, if you try running the game, the game will crash within moments, and spawn 2 windows: a Wine debug window, and a bugsplat window. Source: 10 months ago
If you want to avoid using the Epic Games Launcher, but still want to play the games you have there, you can use Legendary (which requires you to use a command line) or Heroic Games Launcher(which is based on Legengary and has a Graphical User Interface, so is much more user friendly). Both are open source. Source: 11 months ago
Give Legendary a shot, CLI-based alternative to the Epic Games launcher. I've used it for a long time, and haven't run into any issues. Source: 11 months ago
If you want to do ditch the Epic installer, check out Legendary. There’s a little setup and you’ll have to update the app via Terminal, but it was worth it for me. Source: 11 months ago
It's a wrapper around the open source cli epic games launcher, https://github.com/derrod/legendary. Source: 11 months ago

In the meantime, Legendary works well as a way to play without installing the epic launcher on your machine. Do recommend. Source: 11 months ago
I have the game on Epic, so I use Legendary to launch the game. The game itself runs on the latest version of vanilla Wine that my distro currently packages (8.7 at the moment), paired with DXVK 1.10.3 for improved graphical performance (because my GPU is too old to support 2.0). You could use Legendary, I believe. Only downside is there's no GUI, but it's gotten much more usable over the years. Source: about 1 year ago

Are you talking about this? You don't need the Legendary launcher, playnite would replace it. Source: about 1 year ago
What are people's experience with the command line launcher Legendary? Source: about 1 year ago
I've since moved to manually writing the scripts using Legendary but I'm also a massive nerd so if you're still interested in touching grass, option 1 is probably the best. Source: about 1 year ago
