I'm writing a Rust digital signage player very heavily influenced by info-beamer, with a focus more on local intranet control: https://github.com/superlou/signrs. You develop a signage application in JavaScript with drawing functions, and the player runs it cross-platform (including Raspberry Pi), and provides a web server for remote control. I am trying to port a digital signage application I built on info-beamer to Godot. The application is expected to run full-screen on a set of Raspberry Pi 3Bs (at least until Pi 4s are back in stock), preferably with 1600x900 px resolution or better since the application is mostly drawing text. I would suggest you check out info-beamer.com and trueomni.com . I am using info-beamer on several displays in commercial situations and it has worked well. I haven't tried rotating to an angle but you should be able to map the screens as if they are level and play the content across them all. Source: over 1 year ago
Check out Infobeamer For the raspberry pi. Source: over 1 year ago
You might also try out info-beamer (full disclosure: operated by my company) if you have 30 minutes of spare time. Unlike pisignage and yodeck, it's not based on Raspberry Pi OS and implements some reliability features they cannot easily add like: Complete OS image verified every boot to detect any corruption, OS always read-only even during OS upgrades thanks to A/B booting, 100% power loss safe and highly... Here's a write-up of the same hacky solution by one of info-beamer's customers. Source: almost 2 years ago
It wasn't PiWall, but your reply got my curiosity going again now that I'm back at my computer. The name of the software is Info-Beamer. Unfortunately, it's not Open Source software (forgot that bit, ugh), and there's a usage cost, but this is the specific feature I'm referencing in my original comment. Source: about 2 years ago
If you are ok with a (fairly inexpensive) commercial solution and the Pis being mostly online via WiFi or Ethernet, you might have a look at my company's product https://info-beamer.com. It's a digital signage solution that can be used for the project you describe. It avoid corruption when randomly shutting down the Pi by using a very small (~50MB) optimized read-only operating system and automated self-checks to... Source: over 2 years ago
Last time I looked into it a while back I was leaning toward info-beamer, however it looks like they may have gone to a hosted only/subscription model, similar to yodeck. Source: over 2 years ago
Have a look at my company https://info-beamer.com. It operates a Pi based signage platform with lots of possiblities to completely customize what happens on the screen. It can directly import packages that control what happens from github, where you also find a lot of the code for the existing solutions: https://github.com/info-beamer. The OS is minimal (~40MB currently) and trivial to install. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
If so, you might give info-beamer, our Raspberry Pi based signage solution, a basically completely free test drive without purchasing any additional hardware. It has various ways to fill video walls with content. Everything can be remotely managed. Feel free to get in contact with me if you need help setting things up. Source: over 2 years ago
Huh, I always thought these were powered by raspberry pi's and https://info-beamer.com/. Source: over 2 years ago
Info-beamer (https://info-beamer.com) is probably the best service out there. Source: over 2 years ago
We're using Raspberry Pis and https://info-beamer.com/. They are running a barebones stripped down linux environment with watchdogs and bells and whistles. Never had any crash or freeze on me even after months of uptime. Source: almost 3 years ago
Here's my (too late) introduction to my company's digital signage system. The OS is indeed build precisely for digital signage only. As such the system is only 50MB in size and can be installed in literally seconds on a fresh SD card. It also makes optimizations that are just not possible for any of those "take Raspbian and add our stuff" systems most vendors use. This includes:. Source: almost 3 years ago
My company runs a digital signage service and it offers all that:. Source: almost 3 years ago
