• Question about duoling

  Duolingo is fine for practice, if your bored, and if you have a decent grasp of the language. It does not teach you kanji at all, and kanji have multiple readings, you may know. So on a listening exercise, the word bank might have the kanji you know, but the furigana above it might not be what is being said in the listening exercise.   I think something like the iknow.jp you mentioned could be good, as I feel rehearsing individual kana, or kanji which I'm probably not ready for, isn't that helpful on its own. Source: over 1 year ago

• Anyone got me beat on a pure Japanese streak?

  My Duolingo Japanese streak is only 943, but my iknow.jp streak is 2707. I also sometimes do the English for Japanese speakers course to change it up. I am a sucker for anything with a streak count. Although when I do the math for my streak on iknow, its like realizing how long I have been in my career for, and I am like "oh no...   I'm only using Italki to learn Japanese at the moment because I have discipline issues. Before I was using a website iknow.jp to learn vocabulary and Wanikani to learn kanji and some words. They just gave me vocabulary and kanji recognition. Source: almost 2 years ago

• How long will it take me to reach the N3 level in JLPT?

  Now I'm unemployed so have a lot of free time. I easily have 8 hours a day to study. I have been learning Japanese since the beginning of the year. So far I have learnt around 160 words with a website iknow.jp and flashcards for the vocab I learn in lessons. I don't know if that's much. I know hirigana, some katakana and a dozen kanji. • Does anyone else feel they learn vocab better out of context (rather than through sentence mining)? Or am I doing something wrong?

  I haven't looked at those decks, but I know the source material for the core decks (the original iknow.jp core) didn't use sentence cards. Do those decks really default to sentence cards in the sense that OP is talking about? With complete Japanese sentence on the front (not fill-in-the-blank or anything like that) and definition on the back? Source: over 2 years ago

  Ok, so ive downloaded a couple of core 6k and 2k decks and they all start with それ, but on the iknow.jp website, it starts with 行く, where can I find the core list that starts with それ? Source: almost 3 years ago

• Question on What to Study Next... and How to Go About It

  Why are you learning Japanese? To play Japanese video games? Try playing Japanese video games, then put all the unknown words into an Anki deck. Try whatever you are doing it for. You are still very fresh with just the begging of Genki 1 so there is not a lot of room to branch out. I did Wanikani when I was doing Genki. Kanji is in itself a whole different beast.
