  • Vans started parking outside my house. One is running a a generator tonight. How would you handle this?
Good bet it's on freecampsites.net . You could consider adding a review along the lines of "Hey, don't run your generators" and/or "Becoming too popular, got the knock at 3am.". Source: 5 months ago

  • Show HN: Van, truck or car camp for $0 a night
For anyone looking for actually free, no strings attached (and no subscription) camping, check https://freecampsites.net/ instead. It's a community wiki of free camp sites, usually on federal lands of various sorts (National Forests and BLM lands often have primitive campsites with fire rings and not much else). It's great for travel around national parks, especially. But please do leave no trace, pack out what... - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
  • Looking for Camping Location Suggestions
The water is the hard part unless you're fine camping with lots of people. Then I'll agree that Parker Canyon Lake, Madera Canyon or Patagonia are good for this. Without the water there are some great quiet spots outside of Tombstone or west along the i8. You can find them here: https://freecampsites.net/. Source: 10 months ago
  • Planning a trip to Oregon for camping soon
For camping in camp grounds, you can google that. For camping in the wilderness use http://freecampsites.net. Crime is in all of the cities. Portland just hits the news more. Salems hospital is not great ( from my multiple experiences). I personally would never move to Eugene. I recommend checking out Legacy and consider living in Camas or Oregon City. My nieces do this and are very happy with their living and... Source: 10 months ago
  • New to bushcraft and looking for info
Apps and websites: Https://freecampsites.net/ Campendium(app/site) And the absolute worst is the dyrt, don't use the site or the app for Washington specifically because it's hot garbage. I did the pro version just to get access on info for dispersed camping and the two sites it gave me weren't for dispersed camping. Highly inaccurate for Washington. Source: 10 months ago
  • Free camping??
You can check freecampsites.net for free campsites. I've used it as a resource for a long time. Source: 10 months ago
  • Best place for camping near/in bryce canyon national park? Your recommendation would be appreciated!
If it's near, there's some great free camping near Tropic reservoir, which is right before you to get Bryce. freecampsites.net has you covered. Source: 11 months ago
  • Is there anyway I can travel the US for a month or two without going broke?
If you can swing a car then https://freecampsites.net/ is very useful. I lived out of my car for a month going across the country using it then staying at a cheap hotel once in a while for a shower and bed. Source: 11 months ago
  • Does anyone know of any good camp spots in Paonia, CO?
Try freecampsites.net. It has both dispersed and paid campsites by location. Source: 11 months ago
  • Suggestions for a quick camping trip this weekend
We've used freecampsites.net in the past but I was hoping for some local recs to avoid the pine beetle kill. Source: 11 months ago
  • Pondering becoming a part time priusdweller.
Campendium also allows you to find free campsites, as does freecampsites.net. Source: 11 months ago

  • Can anybody explain why it's forbidden to sleep in your car in some states? What's wrong with pulling over and taking a nap?
This site has heaps of useful spots, but check them out first! Source: 12 months ago
  • Overnight parking in michigan
Check out free campsites, it really depends where at in Michigan. In the metro areas you might only find walmart parking lots (call or talk to a manager beforehand), Cabelas is an option I do believe too. The farther north you go you'll find national forest land that you can boondock on, county/state parks might have cheap campsites, and some casinos have free overnight parking. Source: 12 months ago
  • Brevard Area Dispersed Camping
Check out thedyrt.com or freecampsites.net. Lots of info out there. Good luck! Source: 12 months ago
  • Advice for places to camp for 1-2 weeks?
Https://freecampsites.net is a good resource. Normally if the campsite is free, you can stay for a week or two. Source: 12 months ago
  • What are some of the best online tools/resources that are slept-on?
Freecampsites.net - a massive selection of free campsites all around the world, though mostly the US and Canada. I did a big road trip around the US in 2016 and stayed at a ton of them. There were a lot of really cool places. Source: almost 1 year ago
  • Hike-in Camping Close-ish to Eugene?
I searched through past posts and saw a recommendation for https://freecampsites.net/ - but that doesn't really help with the hiking in aspect. I suppose I could use all trails maybe? I'm just hoping there might be somebody with some experience that could give me advice. Source: almost 1 year ago
