  • Junior Student Here. Could I get feedback on this poster about texting and driving? Which layout do you like better? Any suggestion? + info in comments. TY
Typography: I don't think that compressed sans serif font is very exciting. I know the topic of the poster is pretty bland, but this is a school project. You should be showing off your creativity. Consider choosing two different fonts, one for the headers and one for the body copy. I know you are still learning, so type pairings might not be an intuitive process for you yet. I would recommend checking out Fonts In... Source: about 1 year ago
  • Other than Bodoni or Didot, do you have a favorite Modern-Style Serif font?
One of the best ways to find fonts with similar characteristics is the site Fonts In Use which, on the page for most fonts, lists others that have some relationship. The page for Bodoni lists, among others, FF Holmen, Parmigiano, and Filosofia, all of which look nice. Source: about 1 year ago
  • How do you find and match great fonts for your projects?
I use fontninja the plug-in to grab fonts on websites when I like them. I also use fontsinuse.com to find fun and interesting type styles. I usually rotate a few personal favorites at a time though. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Looking for this font. It's not Gopher or Opposit
Imo the best place to start is in fact https://fontsinuse.com not even a generic search engine. See, if you visit them and enter "Saskia Olde Wolbers" in the search field (upper right corner), the first result you get is this specific book. It doesn't work for everything, obviously, but when it works, it works great. If it doesn't, then come the generic search engines. :). Source: about 1 year ago
  • Resources or 'categorized inspiration'?
There are any number of rabbit holes you can climb down to answer some of your questions. There probably isn’t a single resource that will hit all of these questions. They include some background info in each case study including the designers involved and the foundries where you... Source: about 1 year ago

One thing I'll add is that I generally keep the Client's existing advertising with my own design elements. Ie; the font used on the bag should probably be the font you use in your flyer (or the closest font possible. You can check out https://fontsinuse.com/ for some inspiration. You may also want to consider using the same font family for all the text. Play with bold options, find similar style fonts, try... Source: over 1 year ago
  • I know the name of this font but could you identify the style?
Looked this one up on Fonts In Use. Nothing's said about this one, but it suggests two similar fonts, Sunshine and Moonshine. Those are described as ultrageometric and counterless – counters being the usual "holes" in letters – which is also true of this one. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Searching for typeface review channels, newsletters, websites.
