PyXing (website here) is supposedly a Python port of the popular Java ZXing library, but the initial and only commit is 6 years old and the project has no readme or documentation whatsoever. Source: about 2 years ago

If you don't want to install them, you could also use Barnite to scan their barcodes to add them more quickly. Works well with something like Barcode to PC (installed on both your PC and phone). Source: about 1 year ago
