For those following this thread: I've just discovered a tool called Vysor which allows you to control your fire tv from another device (like your laptop). It's not a native remote.. I use scrcpy with the Dex Dock and a dummy HDMI and connect wirelessly through tcpip to the dex instance. It smoothly runs at 50-60 fps (1080p), but I have capped it to 45fps since that's enough for my use case.
