Each 'step' in a chain of API requests would consume 1 credit. 100% inspired by updown.io's pricing model, which I personally love: https://updown.io/#pricing. Source: 11 months ago
The part I am missing is a way to know when the stream goes down. I've tried updown.io monitoring, using Powershell to query the broadcast URL, but since the stream doesn't actually END, those all continue to see it as up even when its just spinning circles and not showing any actual video. For a few bucks a month, we use updown.io and we put our page into an iframe for our server status like this - https://palmcoastdesigns.com/server-status. So not a plugin per say, but, it does what you are after. Source: about 2 years ago
I always think it's entertaining that the 200th uptime website that charges their users doesn't compare themselves to the actual competitor, it's not pingdom, it's updown, hundred of websites checked for the price of a buck a month: https://updown.io/. Source: over 2 years ago
That's server failure, and it's easy to spot. Internet burps are harder to detect. You'll need to run external health checks, from multiple locations. It's easy to get basic, multi-perspective monitoring – we use Datadog and updown.io, and we're building out our own half-built home grown service. Deadmanssnitch.com — Monitoring for cron jobs. One free snitch (monitor), more if you refer others to sign up. - Source: dev.to / 3 months ago
If you are ok with a Saas and if it's just scheduled jobs that you are monitoring, there are a number of monitoring tools where you tell when job completes (with a http request) and a missing ping (after a grace period) means that it failed. I think https://deadmanssnitch.com/ may have been the original service for this. https://healthchecks.io/ has a fairly generous free tier that I use now. There are others that... - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
There's a great service already existing with a riff on that name, even - https://deadmanssnitch.com/ DMS is useful for stuff like crons where you're trying to monitor an event that happened rather than whether a service is online. No way to ping a cronjob from the outside world, but the cron can report that it ran successfully. - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
Sounds like https://deadmanssnitch.com with a bigger free plan, or is there a fundamental difference? - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
As for any specific tool or service to help you with this, it's totally up to you. Popular solutions include Dead Man's Snitch , Cronitor and Healthchecks.io with the last one being available as open-source in addition to their managed offering. But in reality, you could very well hack something together yourself that would do the job just fine. The important part here is that it needs to serve as a dead man's... - Source: dev.to / over 1 year ago
