Core coding and IT skills are a must though. Pick a language you followed and liked at Uni, check there is decent job demand for it, and do a udemy.com course on it (great value, great content, very cheap). I paid somewhere in the region of £15 (they retail for around £60-70 in general but always come on sale at some point) for a number of courses (incl. languages). Look for flat style or geometric style vector tutorials, say on tutsplus.com . They mention what type of blend style to use for shadows and etc and you generally need to make all that using simple shapes. As for how to make it look good, that is another question.
