Top 18 Free Music Making Software for Beginners [2023]
TuxGuitar is an open-source software that allows you to compose and edit tablature for musical instruments. While it isn’t used for mixing and mastering songs like regular DAWs, TuxGuitar is helpful for music producers that need to score songs efficiently.

Top Yousician Alternatives (for 2024): Which Competitor App is Better?
I like GuitarTricks because they have an easy to learn system with many different options for different STYLES of play. Other programs are really only geared towards casual learners, but GuitarTricks covers the whole spectrum.

  • Anyone got guitar tabs for the soundtrack?
They're .gp/.tg you'll need tuxguitar (free clone of guitar pro), or you can use this site to play them online. Source: 5 months ago

  • Want to learn TWRP on a keytar
If you download the guitar pro tabs from ultimate guitar, you can view sheet music for the keyboard parts. There's sheets for a lot of stuff from 2nite through Together Through Time. If you don't want to pay the money for Guitar Pro, you could try the free and open-source program called Tux Guitar (your milage may vary). Source: almost 2 years ago
  • “Aqueous Transmission” is the greatest Incubus song of all time.
Download TuxGuitar and then download the guitar tab (there's a download link in the middle of the page). TuxGuitar reads GuitarPro files and by default shows the sheet music above the guitar tab. Source: almost 2 years ago

  • Did you already play instruments 'properly' before making music or have you had to learn in order to get better results?
Check out guitartricks.com for cheap lessons. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Has anyone here used Yousician or any other software? What was it like?
Yousician and guitartricks.com are the two most interesting IMO. They have the most content. Neither really comes close to Rocksmith's interface, but again, you don't need that if your goal is to learn and not just chase scores. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Rocksmith+ Update 12/13
I've mentioned this before, but guitartricks.com, the supposed #2 online music learning service, doesn't allow you to do some things with some songs that you can do with others. They explain this in their FAQ that some license holders simply wouldn't allow them. So you have inconsistent features based on licensing. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Ubisoft should sell Rocksmith to Spotify
You're playing naïve to the reality that using music in a product like R+ (and its competitors) is vastly different and more complicated than streaming music services. There's a reason that Yousician uses cover bands for a lot of its stuff. There's a reason guitartricks.com has strict limitations on some of the material they have and how you can access it. It's complicated! Source: over 1 year ago
  • What are some Rocksmith Alternatives?
Guitartricks.com looks very interesting. It obviously lacks the interactive note detection of RS, but from a pure learning standpoint, whether strict guitar learning or the "learn a song" paradigm, it has a LOT of content. Source: over 1 year ago
