  • Good resources to learn fm synthesis?
I recently made a video series on this, using the Sonicware Liven XFM. If you skip the first few episodes you'll find the rest of the series (starting at the FM panel overview) demonstrates the basics of FM sound design in a fairly approachable manner (meaning focused more on sound than mathematics), even if you are using another synth. I personally quite like OxeFM as a software FM engine as the matrix view of... Source: almost 2 years ago
  • which of the smaller dx series is the best dx11/21/27
The main reason to use Dexed is it being DX7 compatible, and a DX7 librarian; overall I think there are far better options out there. No longer in active development, but I find OxeFM has a far more intuitive interface (taking a matrix approach to modulations vs algorithms). Source: almost 2 years ago
  • detailed guides/workshops for Dexed?
It seems like what you want is to learn FM synthesis, rather than dexed. If you want to experiment with FM synthesis in general, I find Dexed's UI to be quite painful. Consider trying out OxeFM. It's fairly only now but so is FM synthesis. It has a matrix of knobs to route your modulations which (for me) is far easier to comprehend than a little diagram of an algorithm and an array of operator controls. Source: almost 2 years ago
