Post of origin detected. I included two reblogs for redundancy. This one was a little harder to find. I tried using duckduckgo by typing "Something so profoundly fucked up between the inverse ratio of shrinking middle class and ever increasing aggression of advertisement site:tumblr.com". The best starting points for this would be the iproute2 man page [1], superuser [2] and serverfault [3]. There are potentially also Linux namespaces to consider. Fundamentally, "dev" and "ops" require different skillsets. Dev experience does not translate to ops. An experienced "ops" might be able to rootcause an issue by pattern matching its markers to previous experience.
